"We create an attractive workplace for the next generation to take over, where employees can enjoy their work despite the monotonous assembly line work." ---Olivier Mounir, Managing Director & Winery Manager, Cave du Rhodan Mounir Weine
As production volumes continued to grow, manual palletizing became one of the winery's most repetitive and physically demanding operations.
Operators were required to continuously lift and stack finished wine cartons at the end of the production line. While essential to daily production, the repetitive nature of the task increased physical strain, reduced overall efficiency, and prevented employees from focusing on more value-added activities.
Cave du Rhodan Mounir Weine wanted an automation solution that could:
Working together with integration partner zmb (zaugg maschinenbau ag), DOBOT EMEA deployed an automated palletizing solution based on the DOBOT CR20A Collaborative Robot and Palletizing Station V1 Fixed Column.
The system automatically palletizes finished wine cartons with high precision while integrating seamlessly into the winery's existing production line. Thanks to the CR20A's compact footprint, intuitive programming, and flexible deployment, installation was completed efficiently without requiring major changes to the production layout.
Beyond productivity improvements, the solution also supports the winery's long-term workforce strategy.
By automating repetitive palletizing tasks, employees can focus on higher-value responsibilities such as quality control, production supervision, and other skilled operations.
As Olivier Mounir explains:
"On one hand, we have ergonomic benefits by optimizing the whole process. On the other hand, we create an attractive workplace for the next generation to take over."
The project demonstrates how collaborative automation can improve both operational performance and employee satisfaction while helping traditional manufacturers prepare for future workforce challenges.
The collaboration between Cave du Rhodan Mounir Weine, zmb (zaugg maschinenbau ag), and DOBOT shows how collaborative robotics can modernize traditional wine production without compromising craftsmanship or product quality.
By automating end-of-line palletizing, the winery has improved workplace ergonomics, increased production efficiency, and built a more scalable manufacturing process. More importantly, the project reflects a people-centered approach to automation—using robotics not to replace workers, but to eliminate repetitive tasks, enhance job satisfaction, and create a more sustainable workplace for future generations.
